McArthur were an all male vocal quartet founded by former Royal Joker, Willie Cornelius Jones during 1974. Willie had begun the early 1970’s as the lead singer and founding member of vocal group The 21ST Century who later, due to a name clash with The 21ST Century on RCA, became known as just The 21ST.

Mr. Mike James Kirkland, a legend who’s dear to our european Soul Community having performed live in Bilbao to a packed Kafe Antzokia in 2015 and counting several tunes in the top list of many great djs. MJK sent us a collection of demos written and produced by himself, his brother Robert and a few other Artists at the dawn of the 90’s which never made to the stage of arrangement/production/release. He said he would have been pleased for us to present our vision and, if the ideas we would submit to him were good enough, then a real project would take off.

The group “Onyx” was formed in 1972 the members, were Aaron and Wendell Basey, Malvin Scott, and Ronald Busby. Ronald left the group to pursue other interests and was replaced by Cornelius Weekly.
We were reared in the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically Oakland and Alameda, California. We grew up singing in our School and Church Choirs. We all began singing in quartets while we were teenagers in Junior High School. Malvin sang in the group Morry Williams and the Kids. They had a national hit titled “Are You, My GirlFriend.” The Basey brothers sang with several groups in California, none with any recording history.
