Totally Wired Radio (or TWR) is an independent, specialist internet station founded in April 2019 by the seminal east London record label Acid Jazz. The radio takes its name from the Totally Wired series of compilations, compiled by label boss Eddie Piller and his original partner, the fellow DJ Gilles Peterson. The compilation series became a byword for creative eclecticism which perfectly reflects the eclectic music championed by TWR.
TWR’s talented roster of professional broadcasters play progressive, left-field and specialist music that had been ignored by the mainstream stations. We are on air 24 hours a day, 7 hours a week and are listened to in 92% of countries in the world with an average base of approximately 15,000 listeners – an extraordinary achievement for a new digital station with no marketing budget. The growth has been organic and purely by word of mouth!
Totally Wired Radio has an avowed Internationalist outlook and the station programming policy reflects that. The weekday slot from 10 till Midnight features an internationally hosted show, the majority broadcast in the presenter’s first language. We currently host presenters from such diverse countries as South Korea, Peru, Argentina, Kenya, Germany, Lebanon, Israel, United States, Australia, Scotland, Italy, France, Ireland, Germany, Japan and others with a constantly expanding portfolio.
The station showcases a broad sweep of musical styles and has presenters who specialise in Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, Ska & 2Tone, Country, Soundtracks and Library Muic, Reggae, Film, Folk, Funk, EDM, World Music, Afrobeat, Latin, Gospel, Rare R&B, Poetry, Punk, Psyche and Garage, Disco and Podcast Interviews. Totally Wired Radio covers a wide spectrum of sounds!
“Radio is a unique experience and a good radio show can change your day for the better. That’s our stated aim at Totally Wired; to improve lives, one show at a time…” Eddie Piller.
